Carlee Livingston, a Summerland junior, placed third in the state finals of Poetry Out Loud, a national recitation contest held Saturday at the Sheldon Art Gallery in Lincoln. Carlee Livingston, a junior at Summerland Public Schools, is this year's school winner in the Poetry Out Loud national recitation competition. After submitting video recordings of two of her selections, she learned she had qualified to compete in the state competition, which will be held on Saturday, March 9, at the Sheldon Museum of Art in Lincoln. Preslie Robertson represented Summerland in the Poetry Out Loud State Finals held at the Sheldon Art Gallery in Lincoln on Sunday. To earn the spot, she won her classroom competition and then the school competition. She then recorded videos of two poems which were evaluated by program representatives. Katie Hawk, a senior at Ewing High School, finished in the top five of the Nebraska Poetry Out Loud finals competition, held Sunday, March 8, at the Sheldon Art Museum, on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus. Katie Hawk, a senior at Ewing Public Schools, recently won the school's Poetry Out Loud competition. Ewing Public Schools participates in the program annually.
