On July 31, 20 American Legion riders left the International Peace Garden, at the Canadian border, venturing south on U.S. Highway 281. Along the way, riders stopped in each town, collecting the signature of the local American Legion post commander on a banner. Tucker Stagemeyer, of Page, will serve on Governor Ricketts Youth Advisory Council. The council consists of 25 members comprised of 14- to 19-year-old students from across Nebraska. The group's goal is to increase communication between youth, community and government. Council members stay informed on bills, laws, policies and decisions that may impact youth in their communities and across the state. Miles Stagemeyer, of Page, showed the reserve grand champion owned female at the 2019 National Junior Angus Show. The competition was held in Louisville, Ky., July 14 to 20, at the Kentucky Expo Center. Approximately 900 junior members and their families attended the event, for the “Win, Place and Showing for the Purple” convention. Educational contests were held, in addition to the cattle show. Memorial services for Delbert “Sonny” Carl Jr., 79, of Ewing, were held Thursday, Aug. 1, at 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Ewing, with Pastor Larena officiating. A 27-year-old Page man appeared in Holt County District Court, July 15 for numerous counts in four separate cases. District Judge Mark Kozisek sentenced Chad W. Rokahr to a total of four years probation for all charges. He was given credit for 29 days served in Holt County Jail.
