Dear Editor, The Orchard Historical Society would like to thank the people of Orchard and its surrounding communities for the interest and support shown to us over the years. With that support, we have restored the Rex Theatre and the District 57 one-room schoolhouse. The society desires to take on the project of digitization of the Orchard News newspapers dating back to 1902. These papers are currently on microfilm through 2003 but not out on the World Wide Web. June 30 retirement of longtime Antelope County clerk of the district court, Judy Cole was announced during the April 14 meeting of the Antelope County commissioners. Antelope County Commissioners adopted a new snow removal policy when they met last Tuesday at the courthouse in Neligh. Casey Dittrich, road superintendent, presented the policy that he and road foreman Aaron Boggs have been drafting over the past few weeks, with input from Tim Baxter from the Nebraska Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency, the county’s liability-insurance carrier.
