    Approximately 65 years after serving in the United States military, three Ewing veterans were awarded Quilts of Valor, for their service. Robert Bartak, Leonard Hawk and Dwayne Hobbs received the quilts Dec. 12, during a gathering at the Ewing Sanders American Legion Post 214.     Funeral services for Leo Hawk, 91, of Ewing, will be Monday, June 1, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Sanders American Legion Post #214. Visitation will be Sunday, May 31, from 5 to 7p.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with wake service rosary at 7 p.m. Leo died Saturday, May 23, at County Lane Retirement Village in O'Neill.     Katie Hawk, a senior at Ewing High School, finished in the top five of the Nebraska Poetry Out Loud finals competition, held Sunday, March 8, at the Sheldon Art Museum, on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.
