    Summerland defeated Elkhorn Valley, 45-8, in the opening round of the Class D1 State Football Playoffs. The teams met Oct. 24, in a game played at Summerland.     Homecoming festivities for Summerland Public School kick off Sunday, Sept. 8, with a bonfire at the rodeo arena in Clearwater.     Temperatures soared near 75 degrees on Feb. 28, but that didn't stop Summerland students and staff from purchasing a warm beverage for a cause.
