Village board races were decided during the Nov. 5 General Election. In unofficial results from Antelope County, Clearwater voters re-elected Cody Kester and Kelly Kerkman. Orchard voters chose Stephanie Cleveland and John Ferguson to retain their seats on the board. In Royal, Dennis L. Bridge and Duaine Brandt were the top vote-getters, with 21 each. For the 14th time, Clearwater's Big Rodeo, scheduled annually for the last full weekend in June, received the Mid-States Rodeo Association's award for large-purse rodeo of the year. Award recipients were announced Saturday, during the association's finale in Broken Bow. What initially started as a fundraiser for Dream Socks, FDA-cleared Smart Baby Monitor socks for infants at a local daycare turned into a donation from the Clearwater Fire and Rescue Department. Cowboys and cowgirls attending the 56th annual Clearwater Big Rodeo will notice improvements on the rodeo grounds, situated along West Highway 275. A new 40-foot by 50-foot building, featuring a rodeo office, kitchen, meeting area, shop and shower, was approved by Clearwater Chamber of Commerce membership in December.
