    A slow second quarter hindered the Bobcats, who could only muster five points in the eight-minute period, dropping a game against Niobrara/Verdigre, 63-42. Gage Clifton scored 10 points in the Dec. 13 contest and Kellen Mlnarik added 9. Dalton Rotherham pulled down 7 rebounds, including 6 defensive boards. Mlnarik grabbed 5 rebounds.     Summerland senior Gage Clifton scored 30 points in the Bobcat's season opener against Neligh-Oakdale. It wasn't enough to propel the Bobcats to a win, as the Warriors relied on a second-quarter burst to pick up a 67-51 win. Neligh-Oakdale jumped to a 13-6 lead after the first quarter. The host team scored 22 points in the second quarter, holding the Bobcats to 13. But the Bobcats refused to quit, shoring up the defensive effort.     Summerland's boys basketball team overcame a 9-7 first-quarter deficit to secure the team's first win in its inaugural season, as the Bobcats downed CWC 40-35. The Bobcats led at the half, 15-13. A strong third quarter boosted the Bobcats to a 35-26 margin, before adding another five points in the last stanza to secure the win. Wyatt Wagner led Summerland with 9 points.     Veterans Day took on special significance, Monday, Nov. 11, as Summerland communities showed appreciation for veterans who have fought for and continue to defend our country's freedoms. Veterans and American Legion Auxiliary members attended the events, which included guest speakers and patriotic music. Students from Clearwater, Ewing and Orchard schools participated in programs at their respective schools. In Clearwater, members of the American government class talked about the Korean War....
