The Holt County Fair Board recognized two individuals during the 2019 fair, for contributions benefiting the fair and 4H and FFA programs. Scott Moore was named a friend of the fair. He spent more than 20 years as superintendent of shooting sports events. Moore built targets, mowed the ranges and set up for practices and events. Tucker Stagemeyer, of Page, will serve on Governor Ricketts Youth Advisory Council. The council consists of 25 members comprised of 14- to 19-year-old students from across Nebraska. The group's goal is to increase communication between youth, community and government. Council members stay informed on bills, laws, policies and decisions that may impact youth in their communities and across the state. The Antelope County Fair is just around the corner. The fair starts Tuesday, July 30 and will end on Sunday, Aug. 4. The fair will be hosted at the fairgrounds on the southeast side of Neligh. On Tuesday, the fair will start at 9 a.m., with the 4-H/FFA dog show. It will be followed by the cat show at 10:30 am. At 1 p.m., there will be a small pet show. In 2014, a little girl was sitting in the crowd at the Clearwater Rodeo. She watched as the new Miss Clearwater Rodeo, McKenzie Brozek, circled the arena. The young girl thought, "Man, I want to be like her someday: ride a horse, carry a flag, and dress all pretty." Five years later, Ashleigh Nelson's dream has come true.
