Ewing speech team individuals placed in five events at Saturday’s Creighton Speech Invitational. Twenty-one teams participated and Ewing finished eighth in team standings. Katie Hawk, a senior at Ewing Public Schools, recently won the school's Poetry Out Loud competition. Ewing Public Schools participates in the program annually. Students memorize two poems and recite them. One judge scores accuracy, while a panel of judges rate each student on physical presence, voice and articulation, dramatic appropriateness, evidence of understanding and overall performance. Summerland survived a late rally by Boyd County to earn a hard-fought 44-41 win Saturday in the conference consolation matchup in Atkinson. Niobrara Valley Conference officials recently announced names of students who qualified for the NVC Principal's All-Academic Team for 2019-2020. To be eligible, students must be a junior or senior with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or above. The Lady Bobcats will meet CWC for the third time this season during Thursday's semi-final in Niobrara Valley Conference tournament action.The game is set to tipoff at 5 p.m., at Niobrara.
