The Cowboy Recreation and Nature Trail sections near Neligh and Long Pine have reopened to the public after repairs were made from the 2019 Elkhorn River flood. Repairs two miles west of Neligh included bank stabilization and new trail surfacing. Trail users now can enjoy a closer view of the Elkhorn River in this area. Repairs a mile east of Long Pine included installation of new culverts, rebuilding the embankment, and trail surfacing. Summerland one-act cast and crew will take their show on the road, Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the C1-4 district competition at West Holt. When Larry and Judy Parker moved to Clearwater in 1965, little did they know they would spark the idea for one of the hottest rodeo tickets in Nebraska. With less than two weeks left in the session, the 108th Legislature is dragging an overburdened $12.975 billion budget to the finish line. Passing the budget is the only thing lawmakers are constitutionally required to accomplish. Xavier W. Hobbs, 20, of Ewing appeared in front of the Honorable Donna Taylor last Wednesday, May 18, in the Antelope County courtroom in Neligh. He was set for pretrial hearing on two counts, Count I, willful reckless driving, first offense; and Count II, minor in possession of alcohol, age19/20, both Class 3 misdemeanors. A plea agreement was announced. Antelope County attorney Joe Abler reduced Count I to reckless driving, still a Class 3 misdemeanor, and Hobbs pleaded guilty to both counts.
