Homecoming festivities for Summerland Public School kick off Sunday, Sept. 8, with a bonfire at the rodeo arena in Clearwater. Fun and games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Each class has been assigned a class color. Seniors will wear white; juniors, pink; sophomores, black; freshman, blue; and junior high, yellow. Three Bobcat golfers claimed medals in the Niobrara Valley Conference Golf Tournament, played at Tatonka Golf Course, near Santee. Dane Miller led the Bobcats, shooting 85. He finished eighth. District 4 Leadership Development Events were held Dec. 6 at Lutheran High Northeast. Summerland FFA advisor Jacob Goldfuss said the local chapter took took 20 members and they all did very well. A Summerland FFA student who started an auto detailing business has been tabbed by the Nebraska FFA Foundation as a 2023 grant recipient. Approximately $97,000 was awarded in total grant funding statewide.
