    Angie Hupp has held a variety of jobs before, but had never served as a village clerk – until now.     Ewing's new water tower went vertical, Monday, by employees of MRL Crane Service and Equipment Rental, of Grand Island. Three members of the crew worked inside the tube while a crane operator lowered the tank into place. Construction on the project began in early September. Painting and lettering will not be completed until spring. Ewing Village Board of Trustees approved white paint with black serif letters measuring 51 inches in height.     After approximately 15 years as the Holt County treasurer, Connie Krotter will leave public office and take a position in the private sector. Her resignation will be effective Jan. 15.     It pays to be a customer with Northeast Nebraska Telephone Company in Jackson. About 4,500 current customers and 1,900 former customers will receive a capital credits payout in December, which will total $4.9 million across the NNTC member base. This year’s payout amount will reflect the amount paid in by customers in the 2009 and 2019 calendar years.     The Honorable Mark Johnson denied an incarcerated man’s request for an amended sentence when he presided over the Antelope County district court last Wednesday, Nov. 25, in Neligh. Robert Wagle, 36, is currently imprisoned at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center in Lincoln, under the jurisdiction of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.     Joel Schrader, 49, of Martell appeared before the Honorable Mark Kozisek in the Holt County district courtroom in O’Neill for sentencing Nov. 23, for crime committed in 2018.
