Words to live by: Don’t let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace. Easier said than done. My inner peace is on high alert, and honestly, if you live in Clearwater (or any place affected by the topic I am addressing), your inner peace should be rattled, too. For a while now, someone - or someones - have been vandalizing village property. Sand has been dumped in the restrooms in the park, clogging the sink. It’s not like someone uses the facility to rinse the grains of sand off the...
It's 55 degrees this September morning and I'm greeting the day with a cup of hot cocoa. I'm a cocoa fan rather than a cup of hot coffee. Despite the cool temperature I have my kitchen window open as I peer outside at the flower garden. Crickets can be heard singing a serenade which I hope is their goodby song. Of course their song also means goodbye to the bright, warm summer days. The plants are transitioning into fall as some of them have lost their growing vigor. Yet others seem to blend in...

Alabama football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant once said, Defense wins championships." For the Summerland Bobcats, a solid defensive showing limited the visiting CWC offense to 213 total yards, giving the Bobcats a 29-26 win, Sept. 10, in Orchard. A little razzle dazzle from the Bobcats helped seal the deal. In the final quarter, on fourth and 14, Gaby Gamez got the first down and more to set up final scoring opportunity for Summerland. The Bobcats trailed 12-7 after the first quarter, but clawed...
The Lady Bobcat volleyball team sits at 4-9 on the season after winning two of seven sets during three days of competition last week. The Bobcats broke in the new gymnasium Sept. 7, hosting a double triangular. The new school shine didn't cast a strong glow on the Bobcats, as they lost 2-1 to both Stuart and Elgin Public/Pope John. On Sept. 9, the Cats traveled to Norfolk for a triangular. Summerland pushed host Norfolk Catholic in both sets, but came up short, with 27-29 and 22-25 losses....
