The Honorable Kale Burdick accepted written documents filed by four defendants, waiving their rights to preliminary hearings, when he presided from the county court bench in O’Neill on July 11. Tyler C. Bain, 40, of Stuart faced the Honorable Kale Burdick in the Holt County courtroom in O’Neill on July 18 for arraignment on Count I, no proof of financial responsibility, a Class 2 misdemeanor committed May 6; and Count II, unsafe backing, an infraction. Bain pleaded guilty to Count I, pursuant to a plea agreement with Holt County attorney Brent Kelly. In return, Kelly dismissed Count II. A 23-yer-old Oakdale man waived his right to preliminary hearing when he appeared in the Antelope County courtroom in Neligh on July 19. Rider C. Short appeared for first hearing on a Class 4 felony count of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, alleged July 4 in downtown Neligh.
