    Flashing lights and reduced speed limit signs will be placed on 513 Avenue, near the Summerland School site. AaronBoggs, Antelope County road superintendent, told commissioners, Tuesday, they gave a nod for approval a year ago. Lights will flash when school is in session, as well as when activities are held. Speed limit on the stretch will drop to 35 miles per hour.     Barbara Roland, who taught at Ewing and Summerland schools for 33 years, died Thursday, May 27, at her home, after battling cancer for 11 years. Roland taught third grade and, later, served as the Title I reading instructor. In August, she told the Advocate- Messenger her battle with cancer began in 2009, when she was having dental issues and was sent to Dr. Jon Stineman, an oral surgeon in Norfolk.     Two 19-year-old O’Neill men were sentenced last Wednesday, May 26, in the Holt County courtroom in O’Neill by the Honorable Tami Schendt. Judge Kale Burdick recused himself from sentencing the men after accepting their guilty pleas March 23. Nathaniel N. Fonseca appeared before Schendt to be sentenced on a conviction of minor in possession of alcohol, ages 19/20, a Class 3 misdemeanor committed Feb. 21.     A 45-mile cruise between Ewing, Orchard and Clearwater drew 15 teams to compete in the FunFest road rally, sponsored by the Summerland Advocate-Messenger and Ewing Young Members Club.     The State of Nebraska has issued a health alert for harmful algal blooms, also known as toxic blue-green algae, at Willow Creek Lake in Pierce County. Samples taken earlier this week at Willow Creek Lake were above the health alert threshold of eight parts per billion of total microcystin, which is a toxin released by certain strains of blue-green algae.
